Malaysia Day, or Hari Malaysia, is a national holiday in Malaysia, and it is observed on September 16 each year.
Malaysia Day commemorates the establishment of the Malaysian federation on the same date in 1963. Malaya, North Borneo (renamed as Sabah), Sarawak, and Singapore formed into a single state under the basis of the Malaysia Agreement which sets out the terms and conditions for the component States to be federated under a new constitution.
Malaysia Day was observed as a state public holiday in Sabah and Sarawak before 2010, and it became a national holiday in 2010.
