Kingdom Day is a public holiday on the island of Bonaire, and it is observed on December 15 each year. The holiday commemorates the anniversary when Queen Juliana signed the Charter for the Kingdom of Netherlands in 1954.
The Kingdom of the Netherlands was made up of three parts at that time: The Netherlands in Europe, Suriname, and the Netherlands Antilles.
Bonaire was part of the Netherlands Antilles, and it became one of the special municipalities in the Caribbean Sea when the Netherlands Antilles was dissolved in 2010. It is one of the three islands of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba, known as the Caribbean Netherlands.
