Kaamatan Party, also known as Harvest Festival, is a public holiday in the state of Sabah, Malaysia, and it is observed on May 30 and 31 each year.
Kaamatan Party is closely connected to rice cultivation and is celebrated by the local people to give thanks for a bountiful harvest. In the past, most people in Sabah were farmers and rice is their main crop.
During the festival, the local people will wear traditional costumes and celebrate with the homemade rice wine, called \”Tapai\”.
