National Day in China is a public holiday, and it is observed on October 1 each year.
National Day commemorates the formal establishment of the People\’s Republic of China on October 1, 1949. In 1949, The Communist Party of China led by Chairman Mao Zedong won the War of Liberation and established the People\’s Republic of China at Tiananmen Square, while Kuomintang retreated to Taiwan.
In China, National Day is observed on October 1, and the holiday lasts for 7 days in total from October 1 to October 7. The 7 days normally consist of 3 public holidays falling on weekends, weekends and days switched with closest weekend days.
Schools and government departments are closed during the holidays, and celebrations are held across the country including parade, fireworks and dancing. Many people will travel during the long break so the traffic is heavy.
